Welcome to

JumpCity is your on-the-Web companion to the special, printed WebTV Edition of What's on the Web, available exclusively to users of the Sony WebTV Internet Terminal.

JumpCity contains the full text of What's on the Web's reviews of the best of the Web, all keyword-searchable and listable in a variety of ways. JumpCity also makes it easy for you to access all the sites covered in What's on the Web, through the use of Jump Codes we've assigned to each reviewed Web site--so now you won't have to enter those tedious URLs.

Here are a few simple instructions for getting around JumpCity...

How Do
I Use
JumpCity's
Jump

Feature?

Use the Jump Bar, displayed at the
top of
the JumpCity home page, and displayed throughout JumpCity, to enter Jump Codes listed for each Web site in What's on the Web. You enter Jump Codes into the rectangular box that's inside the Jump Bar.

Before you enter a Jump Code, make sure that the rectangular box is highlighted by WebTV's yellow highlight box . . .

...if it's not highlighted, use your WebTV remote's right or left arrow keys to move the yellow highlight box to the Jump Bar.

You can reach any site featured in What's on the Web by entering its four or five-digit Jump Code on your WebTV remote, and then pressing the round ENTER key (that's the round button below the "9" key) to "jump" to the desired site.

What If I Enter
the Wrong Jump Code?

If you've entered the wrong
Jump Code, use the left-arrow key on your WebTV's remote to highlight the button, then press the ENTER (or the round center button in the middle of the four arrow keys) to erase the incorrect Jump Code.

What If I
Can't Reach
a
Web Site
After
I
Entered

a
Jump Code?

Remember that the Web is growing and changing rapidly. Sometimes Web sites featured in What's on the Web may move elsewhere on the Web, or may cease operating entirely after What's on the Web was printed. We make every effort to check the sites featured on JumpCity but, since these sites are owned and operated by other publishers, we can't guarantee they will always be operational.

Try the Site
Again

if
You Couldn't
Reach It

The First
Time...

If you can't reach a site on the first try, wait a few minutes and try again. If a site has been discontinued by its publisher, we will try to provide you with an alternate selection on JumpCity when you enter the Jump Code for the site, by re-routing you to a substitute site of equal quality.
